A permit and a designated site

Zion National Park issues special use permits for weddings and limits ceremonies to designated locations, each with its own group size cap. The site you choose determines how many people can attend.

The shuttle changes everything

For much of the year, private vehicles cannot drive the Zion Canyon Scenic Drive and access to canyon-floor sites is by park shuttle. That affects call times, dress logistics, and how much gear can travel with you.

Season and water

Spring brings high water in the Virgin River and lush cottonwoods. Autumn is the reliable favourite — cooler, golden, and quieter. Summer is hot on the canyon floor and carries flash-flood risk in narrow terrain.

Meadow, overlook, or canyon floor

Open meadow settings give you towering walls as a backdrop with easy access. Overlooks demand a hike and reward it. Riverside settings feel intimate and green.

Utah paperwork

Zion is in Utah, so a Utah marriage license is required — an Arizona license does not carry over. Plan the license around your travel, not the other way round.

Getting there from Sedona

Zion is a several-hour drive from Sedona. Couples usually build it into a wider Southwest trip rather than treating it as a day trip.
